Elder Saelin Frostmere

She is the village’s speaker, not its ruler.

Moonrest Haven is governed by a loose council of elders and community leaders. Saelin acts as the one who speaks when the village must make decisions.

She rarely gives orders.

She has led the Haven for almost twenty years.

Saelin took the role after the previous speaker died during a brutal winter storm that nearly destroyed the harbour.

Since then she has guided Moonrest through:

Act only when necessary.

She knows everyone in the village.

Moonrest is small enough that Saelin knows:

• Which houses are struggling through winter

She regularly visits homes personally rather than sending messengers.

She respects tradition.

Saelin maintains many old Moonrest customs:

• Winter lantern ceremonies

• Tide-watch rituals

• Blessings before the first fishing launch of spring

Most villagers assume this is simply tradition.

She is deeply protective of the island.

Saelin rarely allows outsiders to stay long.
