Underground?

We are likely to away for several days so ES sends us to Brannick the QM and Garran the blacksmith to see if they have supplies that can help us. 

We decide to head out in the early morning light. We can see the woods in the distance. Bran is at the gates recording who is out of the settlement, but folk  have been told to stay near the settlement. Bran adds our names to list of those outside. 

We head north to the trees. We recognise the stones and the shallow valleys, roots now break through where used to be only snow. Some have split the ground and run for a while , some vanish quickly.

A looks the new roots and sees the new growth is likely only 7 days old max and don't seem to be from one source whatevere joins them seesm to lie well under the surface. However the roots don't seem to interfere with us. There are anilma s but not as much as we'd normally see.

At the woods the wind drops and our footsteps seem loud, but the canopy is not silent . Further away something small moves through the undergrowth, and birds sing quietly. Aeths finds the route to the collapse in the ground and follows it. We find where we found the hole in the grouwn, but the opening is now much larger. The hillside has been puller apart by huge roots. Several have split revealing fibrous things. They reveal Stone, cut and placed not natural rock.
